Romania 2018: 8th WizzAir Marathon Cluj-Napoca

Hey ya’ll! How you doing? How’s your training going? Mine not so good, I’ve been a little lazy. But I’ll talk about that later.

It was about time to add another road race, right? Too many trail runs lately, so this local international half marathon came in perfectly.

So I put my Darth Vader costume from the Star Wars Marathon in Florida last year and look at me go ๐Ÿ˜€

It’s kind ofย  big deal honestly. Thousands of participants and the number is rising each year. My first half marathon was this one, 3 years ago. I finished it in 2h. My first and worst finish time ever for a 21k. Ever since then, my time improved with each race. Even in trails I could see a hige difference. Why? Because I trained.

But was I able to enjoy the beauty of the race this time? A bit. Because the other bit I was trying not to pass out.ย  Let me add an advice here: never go to a race without minimal training. And especially, never sign up as a pacer if you didn’t have time or the willing to train.

As a pacer, you are the guidance of so many people. You have baloons pinned on you, with the finish time written on. That means, you need to finish in exactly that time. I wanted to be a pacer someday at least once, to have the experience and see how it feels. I saw the opportunity and I signed up in an instant for the 2h team. I was accepted and yaay, was I so happy.

I thought : 21k in 2h? Eeeeaaasyy, I did it years ago when I was a beginner, now should be piece of cake. So I signed for the 5k before all this. For fun.

Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t that bad, but I wish I could have felt more comfortable during the race. In the end was ok, I finished exactly as asked, in 2h. And I’m not sorry I signed for the 5k also ๐Ÿ™‚

2 medals in the same day! I’m cool ๐Ÿ˜€ (and so are many others)

Congrats to ya’ll runners! Keep on going ๐Ÿ™‚
